September Goal-Setting Goodness

9 09 2011

Since I’m trying to get back into the swing of this project regularly, it’s time to set a few goals for the remainder of this month. Here’s what I’ll be focusing on:

004. Frame and display one or more of my photographs at home [more info]
I bought some frames from IKEA recently for exactly this purpose, now to figure out what images to put in them…

031. Re-register for the Validation process [more info]
I really, really need to do this – my window of opportunity is closing fast. Difficult to focus on work when I’m trying to care for the baby.

048. Read 50 books (19/50) [more info]
049. Read 10 books that aren’t from the sci-fi or fantasy genres (6/10) [more info]
Two goals that are going relatively well! I tend to read for 30min a day while I’m feeding Rowan in the evenings, so it’s a matter of finishing the three books I’m currently reading (two of which are child-related, not science fiction :P).

071. Paint a feature wall [more info]
This will be revised to decorating a feature wall (using the frames from goal.004 above)

092. Share a month’s worth of reflections on life’s little things [more info]
See previous entry for more information about this, I’m not sure how I’ll post this. End of  the month? Weekly?

101(b) Reassess every six months for outdated/irrelevant goals (0/6)
I’ve kind of failed at this goal so far, we’re more than halfway in (almost a year to go!) and I haven’t revised the list once. I think it’s needed now though, I see at least five unattainable goals (ie, overseas travel) that I can’t see happening within the next twelve months, so I might revise these to something still challenging, yet soemthing I actually have a chance at completing.

Goal-setting for September

4 09 2010

It’s September, Spring in Australia and with that comes more opportunities for getting out-and-about in the (soon to be here) sunshine! With Spring comes cleaning, perhaps a little nesting and definitely some reorganisation.

Here is what I plan on focusing on from my list for September:

003. Take myself on 5 photo-walks (0/5) [more info]
008. Learn about Photoshop actions [more info]
017. Try out 50 new recipes (6/50) [more info]
022. Drink 1.5L of water daily for three months (1/3) [more info]
031. Re-register for the Validation process [more info]
056. Make a photobook out of our New Zealand pictures [more info]
067. Clean out the pantry every six months and post the strangest thing found (0/6) [more info]
078. Throw away all of the old make-up that I’ve amassed over the years [more info]

Perhaps a little adventurous? We’ll see how it all goes. 😉

031. Re-register for the Validation process

20 01 2010

When will I have achieved this goal? When I get all the signatures and register online to begin the Validation process.

Why did I choose this goal? Validation means moving from being classified as a graduate teacher to an ‘accomplished’ teacher. Graduates should only be in this classification for three years, but I’ve been in it for close to six years now (due to the classification system changing over in 2007 when I would have automatically gone up to the next payscale. I applied early last year, but life became too hectic and I didn’t start my portfolio. I have to apply six months before my ‘increment date’, which is February.
